The House of S. Bento and the House of Castro are part of a Mansion House of Tras-Os-Montes from the XVIII century and were restored with scrupulous respect, conserving its original layout, character and construction.
The Houses are integrated in an a group of buildings in the center of the village of Castro de Avelãs with a typical rural environment despite of the proximity of Braganza city (less then 3 km away).
Castro de Avelãs is a major reference of our History, thanks to the important Bento Monastery dating back to the foundation of our nationality, whose ruins are considered an unique example of the romanesque "mudéjar" style in Portugal.
